One item of special interest, due to the lack of rain in Cleveland County, we will be unable to obtain hay/straw bales, so this year we will be forced to use tires as we have used at other places.
Bill Turpish will ensure that the track is safe enough to run the event. Drivers' safety will be the top priority, as usual.
Please be on time for every part of the day as we will be on a tight schedule.
It's an event held by the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association and it promises to be a great time! Drivers will compete for trophies, fame, and glory as they race around the track on lawn mowers!
All proceeds for this event will go to the Victory Junction Gang Camp, a medical camp for children and their families living with chronic and/or life-threatening illnesses.
But the best part is that this competition is open to the public!
Take the blade off your mower and c'mon over to the Hog Happnin' for the ride of your life! You will need to be 18 years old or older, and bring a helmet and a couple of other things, but you'll be surprised at how easy it is to get set up. There is a small charge for a racing license (see below).
There are 6 classes in the USLMRA that range all the way from "Stock" (unmodified mowers) to "FX" (highly modified mowers). Events are open to all self-propelled rotary or reel style riding lawn mowers. There's a place for you and your mower!
You'll get a few practice laps as you prepare to race! Multiple heats may be required due to popularity and number of racers.
Single Day Temporary Racing License - $10 - If you just want to get your feet wet and see how you like lawn mower racing, or if you only want to race for one day, this is the license for you. This license is for the "Stock" class only. You'll buy this license the day of the race, at the race location.
Season Racing License - $35 - If you want to race more often, or if you want to race in any class other than "Stock", you'll need this license. You can buy this license at the event, or if you buy it over the web from the USLMRA, you can save $5.
Here are some links to the USLMRA's web site for some useful information, as well as the racing rulebook!
For more details about this event, you can use our Contact Us page to contact Bill Turpish, the Lawn Mower Racing Coordinator. Or you may call him at 704-482-9444.
See you at the races!
